Telecentricity Across Zoom
Telecentricity is an optical property that allows the height of an
object to remain constant regardless of its position along the optical
axis of the lens. In addition, telecentric lenses are typically designed with a near zero
distortion and by their nature promote even illumination across the
field-of-view.
Telecentricity in fixed magnification lenses is becoming very popular
in machine vision applications.
Zoom systems, by their nature, are quite a different challenge. Zoom
lenses have stop positions that are not constant in position or size.
This makes telecentric zoom lenses a difficult lens to design.
Qioptiq Imaging Solutions has ingeniously developed telecentric
zoom technology, as applied to a 10:1 platform, that features control
over both
properties (position and size) of the aperture stop. The precision
engineering and optical innovation of our Telecentric Zoom lens system
delivers:
- <0.2 degrees telecentricity across 10:1
- <0.1% distortion across 10:1
- Absolute zero vignetting across 10:1
This unique IP and telecentric knowledge could be readily applied to other zoom platforms and optical applications.
Contact Qioptiq Imaging Solutions for more information,
or to discuss how our Telecentric Zoom IP and technology can be applied
to your optical metrology or critical imaging challenge.
